Our approach to sustainability
We believe it is our responsibility to care for the environment by managing soil health, adopting sustainable farming practices, and reducing our environmental impact to help protect the land for future generations. We implement several initiatives to support this goal:
To maintain soil health, we use cover crops over winter to protect the land, and rotate crops to replenish nutrients in the soil.
We generate heat and electricity from biomass, which is used for crop production and to power our site, including the Packhouse and offices.
Across all of our sites, we maintain several reservoirs for rainwater harvesting - specifically at Offenham Vertical Farm and the Hampton Lucy polytunnel - capturing a total of 35,000 cubic metres of rainwater, which helps optimise water usage and reduce our ecological footprint.
We work to reduce food waste by partnering with FareShare and operating a company shop to provide surplus fresh produce to local communities and charities.
Biodiversity is also a key priority: we protect 19 hectares of production, which includes polytunnels, a vertical farm, and glasshouses. These areas are distributed across various sites - 10 hectares at Gibbs Lane, 1 hectare at Offenham Vertical Farm, 4 hectares near Evesham, and 4 hectares at Hampton Lucy - and we support local ecosystems by maintaining 15 to 20 beehives on-site.
Additionally, we are LEAF-accredited, which recognises our commitment to sustainable farming. Looking ahead, we continue to explore further environmental improvements through tree planting, nurturing wildlife habitats, reducing waste, and using recyclable packaging.
